Au Groenland oriental, quelques familles de chasseurs de mammifères marins perpétuent le mode de vie nomade de leurs ancêtres. 

A l’aide d’images comtemporaines, d’anciens documents et de représentations informatiques, ce film illustre l’évolution considérable vécue en quelques décennies par la population est-groenlandaise, ainsi que la transformation de ces anciens chasseurs nomades en citadins sédentaires. 

In Eastern Greenland, a few families of hunters still maintain the nomadic way of life of their ancestors. 

Through recent images, historical documents and computer graphics, this film illustrates the considerable evolution of the East-Greenlandic population over a few decades. This includes the adoption by these ancient nomads of a new sedentary life-style.

Grænlendingar voru miklir hirðingjar og veiðimenn að fornu en nú eru þeir lifnaðarhættir sem fylgdu hirðingjalífinu á miklu undanhaldi. Þó halda enn nokkrar veiðimannafjölskyldur velli á Austur-Grænlandi. Þetta fólk lifir lífi sínu á sama hátt og forfeður þeirra gerðu öldum saman. 

Nýlegar myndir, sagnfræðilegar heimildir og tölvugrafík gerir það kleift að sýna þá miklu byltingu sem orðið hefur meðal íbúa á Austur-Grænlandi undanfarna áratugi. Meginþorri fólksins sem þarna býr hefur breytt um lífsstíl svo um munar, hætt flökkulífi og tekið sér fasta búsetu, með nokkrum undantekningum eins og sjá má í myndinni.
