Proceedings of Norma
In this volume the work of NORMA11, The sixth Nordic Conference on Mathematics Education is presented. The NORMA11 conference was held in Reykjavík on May 11th – 14th 2011. Iceland was the last of the Nordic countries to host a NORMAconference. The first NORMAwas held 1994 in Lahti, Finland, followed by conferences in Kristiansand, Norway (1998), Kristianstad, Sweden (2001), Trondheim, Norway (2005) and most recently in Copenhagen, Denmark (2008).
The NORMA11 conference in Reykjavík was the biggest NORMAconference so far with 150 participants from 12 countries. While most participants came from the Nordic and the Baltic countries there were also representatives from, Austria, Germany, Spain, Portugal and USA. The conference was hosted by the School of Education at the University of Iceland and organised in collaboration with NoRME - the Nordic Society for Research in Mathematics Education. The School of Education sponsored the conference as well as the Universities rector’s office. The rector Kristín Ingólfsdóttir opened the conference by giving a talk welcoming the participants to NORMAand the University of Iceland. The NORMA11 conference coincided with the 100th anniversary of the University of Iceland and was one of many important events that took place during the anniversary year.
